Our Curriculum
More than just a high school
The curriculum at Focus Academy is structured with dual purposes: academic achievement and social success. Many students are scholastically capable but are hindered by struggles in dealing with peers. We offer differentiated, individualized instruction, but emphasize a full high school experience including sports and physical education and state of the art technology.
Academic study will be enhanced by using a proactive approach to discipline and using such strategies as:
establishing consistent routines
emphasizing structure and clear, reasonable expectations
supporting successful transitions
stressing physical and emotional safety
creating a sense of community and connectedness.
Our structure is designed to strengthen each student’s social skills through:
teaching and enhancing self-regulation or calming skills
repairing breakdowns of logic, communication and emotion
addressing sensory and emotional needs.
